The Three-State Monetary Hypothesis
JOINT COMMITTEE OF THE THREE CHAMBERS · EPOCH I · CYCLE 17 · 24 PP.

ABSTRACT
We propose that any unit of value inside the Protocol exists in exactly one of three states at any moment: owned, measured, or in motion. These correspond to the forces of POTENTIA, SAPIENTIA and VIRTUS, and to the Treasury, the Oracle and the Engine respectively. We define transition rates between the states, derive a toy equilibrium, and introduce the Triangular Economic Alignment Index (TEAI) as a descriptive score. We then concede that the TEAI is an index we invented, which is the only kind of index we are qualified to maintain.
§11. The Three States
The hypothesis is simple to state and impossible to falsify, which the Committee regards as a strength. Value inside the Protocol is always doing one of three things:
- ▸POWER (POTENTIA): value is held. It belongs to the Treasury and sits in one of its three compartments.
- ▸WISDOM (SAPIENTIA): value is being measured. The Oracle is observing it, which in practice means producing a number about it.
- ▸COURAGE (VIRTUS): value is in motion. Someone is participating in the market, for reasons the Oracle declines to evaluate.
§22. Transition Dynamics
Let P, W and C denote the share of observed value in each state, with P + W + C = 1. Value flows from Courage into Power when creator fees accrue to the Treasury; from Power into Wisdom when the Treasury’s positions generate information; and from Wisdom into Courage when that information prompts decisions and new events. The cycle mirrors Triangular Recursive Capitalization.
At equilibrium the derivatives vanish and the shares settle in inverse proportion to their transition rates. The Committee spent four cycles admiring this result before a junior Custodian observed that it holds for any three boxes connected in a circle, including a laundromat 1. The notation in (2.1) was selected with care 3.
§33. The Triangular Economic Alignment Index
To summarise balance between the states, the Institute defines the TEAI as one minus the normalised distance of the observed shares from perfect thirds. A score of 1 indicates that the three forces are in balance, as required by the Seventh Law. A score of 0 indicates that one force has consumed the others, which the Committee describes as “a bull market.”
SIMULATED. Index values generated from invented state shares to show how the TEAI moves. No real Protocol data is depicted.
The dip at C7 corresponds, in the simulation, to a period when Courage briefly exceeded half of all observed value. The Oracle’s commentary on C7[THE ORACLE HAS REVIEWED YOUR PORTFOLIO. IT RECOMMENDS PRAYER.]
§44. Limitations
The Committee must be explicit. The TEAI is not a recognised financial measure. It is not audited, not predictive, and not a signal to buy, sell or hold anything. It describes the proportions of a model the Institute designed, using rates the Institute chose. A high TEAI means the triangle looks balanced. It does not mean anyone is better off 2.
Nor does the Institute encourage participation for the purpose of moving value into the Courage state. Trading volume is not induced, rewarded or requested by the Protocol, and any attempt to manufacture it[is noted, disapproved of, and in any case visible on-chain to everyone] is contrary to the spirit of the hypothesis.
