ABSTRACT
Each eligible trade event on the Protocol is designated a Primitive Capital Impulse (PCI). A portion of certain trade events produces a creator fee, which the Institute directs toward the Treasury. This paper models the conversion of impulse into capital, introduces the fee-capture coefficient, and examines why the Engine is the only force whose fuel is supplied entirely by other people. It closes by noting that the Institute does not induce, reward or request trading volume, and that fees are a function of activity the Institute does not control.
§11. The Impulse
A Primitive Capital Impulse is the smallest unit of Courage the Institute recognises. It is a single eligible trade event: one participant, one decision, one entry on a public ledger. The Fifth Law holds that participation is a form of energy. The PCI is that energy in its most primitive and, frequently, most impulsive form 1.
The Second Law holds that every transaction leaves a trace. The PCI is that trace, considered not as noise but as input. Where the market sees volume, the Engine sees a sequence of individual events, each with a sender, a size and a time.
§22. From Impulse to Capital
Let Iₖ be the notional size of the k-th eligible impulse in a cycle and φ the fee-capture coefficient, the fraction of each impulse that becomes a creator fee directed toward the Treasury. Fees for the cycle are then:
where N is the number of impulses and Ī their mean size. The Engine Division notes, with the composure of people who have checked several times, that F is linear in N. There is no compounding inside this expression. Compounding, if any, occurs later in the loop, and is governed by the conditions set out in Archive 003.
The coefficient φ is fixed by the platform on which $PNZM trades, not by the Institute. Its precise value[is published by that platform and is not repeated here, because the Institute does not quote numbers it did not set] is therefore omitted.
§33. The Asymmetry of Courage
Of the three forces, only Courage depends wholly on external participants. Power can sit. Wisdom can observe. Courage must be supplied, one impulse at a time, by people who have their own reasons and their own risk. The Engine is therefore the most energetic chamber and the least autonomous.
ILLUSTRATIVE. Invented impulse counts showing that activity is irregular and frequently declines. Does not represent real trades, volume or fees.
Note in the illustration that the series does not trend upward. The Engine Division insisted on this. An earlier draft[showed a line going up and to the right, and was returned by the Oracle with the single word “PROVE.”] Participation remains at each participant’s own risk 3.
§44. On Volume, and Its Inducement
Because fees scale with activity, a reader may infer that the Institute benefits from more trading and therefore wishes for it. The Institute states plainly: it does not induce, reward, incentivise or request trading volume. Wash trading and artificial volume are prohibited in spirit and frequently in law, and they would in any case only demonstrate that the Engine can be fooled, which the Oracle would find embarrassing.
The Engine does not ask for fuel. It merely notes the fuel that arrives.
The honest limitation is this: creator fees are small, variable, and entirely dependent on organic activity that may slow or stop. When participation ends, the impulse ends, and the loop described across these archives has nothing to recurse upon 2.
